Online Library Catalog

 

The Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library uses the Polaris software created by GIS Information Systems for its online catalog. The catalog may be accessed by clicking on the riverboat below:

If you are have problems searching the catalog, here are a few helpful hints!

 
Searching the Polaris PowerPac Catalogs:
 

On the opening screen, the easiest way to search the catalog is to type what you are looking for into the “Quick Library Search” box. Then, click on the word “Go!” This search is a keyword search, that looks for your query in every field of every record in the catalog. For more information on this type of search, click on “here” in the sentence below the search box.

The second way to search the catalog is by clicking on the word “Search” at the top right of the screen. A search screen will open, which will allow you to perform either a keyword or a browse search. Type in the word(s) you are looking for, which fields you want to search in, and in which order you’d like the records sorted. Then, click on the word “Go!” and your results will be displayed.

 

Requesting a Title

 

If the title you need is not available, you may ask the library to notify you when it is available, and hold it for you to pick up.

  1. Search for a particular title.
  2. Choose “Place Request” under the item that you wish to request.
  3. Type your 14-digit library card number in the Barcode box.
  4. Type your 4-digit PIN in the Password box. (If you do not know your PIN, please call the library’s circulation desk for assistance).
  5. Click on “Submit Request.”
  6. You should get a message saying “Request placed successfully” if the request was correctly placed.
 

Managing Your Patron Account

 
  1. 1. To log-on to your patron account, click on “Patron Account” at the top right of your
    screen.
  2. Type your 14-digit library card number in the Barcode box.
  3. Type your 4-digit PIN in the Password box. (If you do not know your PIN, please call the library’s circulation desk for assistance).
  4. Click “Log On.” Your general registration data should be displayed.
  5. From this screen you may choose to examine your “Items Out,” “Requests,” or “Fines and Fees.”
  6. If you’d like to renew an item, click on the “Items Out” screen and place a check mark by the items you’d like to renew. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on “Renew Selected Items.” You should get a message that states that the Item has been renewed. If you’d like to renew all of your items, then simply scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on “Renew All Items.” You cannot renew an item if: the item has a request on it, you have fines on your account, or your account has been blocked for any reason. Please contact the Circulation Desk for more information.
  7. If you’d like to view your requests, click on the word “Requests.” If you’d like to cancel a request, and place a check mark by the requests you’d like to cancel. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on “Cancel Selected Requests.” You should get a message that states that the request has been canceled. If you’d like to cancel all of your requests, then simply scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on “Cancel All Requests.”
  8. After examining your account it is important that you always choose the click on “Log Off” whenever you wish to exit your account.
